Businessmen think in terms of profits. Entrepreneurs think in terms of results. Promoters think in terms of expanse. Innovators think in terms of difference

Raman Bhatia is one of the latter kinds, for him it was all about making a difference, even before it all began!

His story is driven by two key principles – Perseverance and Diligence – which also constitute fundamental aspects of his personality.

He began his journey in the early 1990s, when he picked up on is father’s cable business and turned his “business-next-door” into a “next-big-thing” venture.

But, as time would have it, he embarked on a completely different journey, the means to which he had picked when working along his father. These were:

An astute grasp of customer behavior thinking out of the box

And these became, so to speak, the tricks of his trade as he went on to lay the foundation of Servotech Power Systems Limited, venturing into the business of manufacturing and selling of Invertors, something that hadn’t made become a constant in Indian households until then, despite the problem of power-cuts abounding in the country.

But life had plans which he wasn’t prepared for. It looked like the curtains were painfully close to coming down on his venture as he suffered a loss of insuperable proportions

He was on the brink of considering the hindmost decision of crossing the end of the line, but his intrinsic nature of persevering, that is not giving up, and diligence, that is to get it done, showed for themselves at the ultimate hour.

An epiphany saw a twist of fate like no other as he realized:

Our struggles are not exclusive; they're inevitable.

It changed is life, personality, and being forever and ever. Thence began his struggle to turn the tide on its head!

He turned a calamity into a challenge, a challenge into an opportunity, and an opportunity into an accomplishment.

From Inception to Fruition,
The Man behind It

As the inverter business found itself in a downward spiral, he channelized is abilities further and farther. Capitalizing on the potential solar market in India, Raman Bhatia resolved to provide innovative solar-power solution to the masses.
The endeavor saw his long-standing dream come to life:

“A Cleaner Future, a Smarter Future.”

His aspiration was an unusual one, to harness technology in an environment-friendly manner.

Queer as it seemed, he had largely made the most of it. Going beyond appropriating renewable sources of energy, he now stepped into providing LED lighting options which sided perfectly with his business-philosophy.

However, a rudiment, etched deep in his consciousness, was yet to actualize

“To win it, is to risk it.”

As time would have it, his abilities took Servotech to the zenith of its powers when in 2017 the company went public and listed on the National Stock Exchange. The overwhelming response of investors and marketers conveyed and reflected the fact that Servotech was now not only trusted but also valued among one and all.

Raman Bhatia’s steering drive also shows for itself in the fact that the Servotech isn’t just limited to customer responsibility, but also assumes and fulfills its roles towards the investors, society, community, environment, and several other key stakeholders

Business & Beyond

Servotech’s journey runs almost parallel to Raman Bhatia’s own, but, as with all forwardlooking personalities, there is more to him.

More recently, as the COVID crisis expanded and spread, India’s medical infrastructure was put under tremendous strain. In the middle of the commotion, Mr. Bhatia suffered a personal loss when one of his loved ones died due to a lack of medical-grade oxygen.

As dismayed he was he refused to give up since he understood the situation was much broader than his own. When he realised that oxygen is not a luxury, he was encouraged to act quickly to discover a tech-inspired solution that would relieve the load on common people while also aiding the country during the pandemic

He could do so because he essentially realized:

“The Human-Cost of it exceeds all opportunity costs.”

Servotech increased its product portfolio by adding UVC goods at competitive costs, thanks to Mr. Bhatia’s creative idea and his team’s focused hard work. Mr. Bhatia added another feather to his cap when he decided to launch a line of Oxygen Concentrators in response to the high demand

He also played the catalyst in spurring the agreement between the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Servotech for the knowledge-transfer of UVC products and also bore the impetus of the coming together of eminent research institutions like IIT Jammu, IISER Bhopal and Servotech in perfecting the technology for making oxygen concentrator devices indigenous.

It was Raman Bhatia the sentient-being, not the businessman, who became the driving force behind Servotech’s #O2forall project, which attempts to bridge the supply and demand gap for oxygen concentrators while simultaneously educating everyone on best practices and usage

“ Professionalism is all about integrity, honesty, and a genuine regard for the customer’s personhood while always doing what is best for the company. Those two things don’t have to be at odds.”
